Like many Japanese bred marques, Nissan (formerly Datsun) has a convoluted history as it evolved through a series of mergers and alliances to become one of the world’s largest auto brands. Early on Nissan was one of the first manufacturers to recognise the growing interest in using pick-ups as leisure vehicles, and tax-efficient work vehicles.

In the UK Nissan was responsible for bringing us the super-popular Nissan Navara pick-up, embraced as a stylish and capable alternative to cars for leisure and work use, beloved by both practical and lifestyle-focused buyers.

Even though it carved out its own niche, particularly with its strong towing and load-carrying capabilities, Nissan decided to withdraw the Navara from the UK market in early 2022 due to stricter environmental regulations and the closure of the Spanish factory where it was produced.

The Nissan Navara may be gone from the market, but it’s certainly not forgotten by its devotees – particularly the D40 series.
